Built in the second half of the XVth century by the Gesuati friars, this church is characterized by the beauty façade encircled on the top with three fired pinnacles, on which there is the elegant Renaissance marble portal. The inside was completely altered in 1640 and repainted by friar Benedetto Marone with Holy Writ’s history.
On the presbytery sides there are four interesting frescos of the original decoration (about 1490) attributed to Paolo of Caylina the Old: on the right the Madonna with the Child between St. Rocco and St. Cristoforo and lower St. Gerolamo genuflected in the desert. On the left the Virgin sits with the dead Christ on her lap and the Virgin with the Child and St. Peter. Closed to the church there are three beautiful Renaissance cloisters: small and quit the first one, bigger and elegant the second one which leads to the church, more ancient the third cloister on the west, seat of the Saveriano Missions abroad Institute.
It’s necessary to inform the porter’s lodge personnel that will take the visitors to the cloister (steep ramp) and will place the slip essential to reach the Church (high slope).
Parking is possible in the Saveriano Institute’s inside courtyard, coming by the left main door of the Church
The Church must be reached by car because Via Piamarta has steep ramp and disjointed paving
