Santa Maria dei Miracoli
Corso Martiri della Libertà

Started at the end of the XVth century, this church is caracterized by the wonderful façade of Botticino marble to which probably, worked the same sculptors and masters stone-cutter engaged for building the Loggia Palace and the Monte Vecchio di Pietà, as proves the rich decorations of the central part of the porch, the bases and the columns. The imaginative and refined façade decoration is an important example of Renaissance Lombard sculpture. The original inside, instead, most of which destroyed under the bombing of 1945, remain, after a careful repair, only Renaissance stone sculptures in the first and second dome and the refined apsis decoration where are also preserved some important canvas: the 'Assumption' by Pietro Marone, the 'Purification of Virgin Mary' by Grazio Cossali (1594), the 'Annunciation' by Pier Maria Bagnadore (1597), and the 'Nativity of Our Lady' by Tommaso Bona of Savoldo’s school.
On the wall at the end of the aisle there is the fifteenth-century fresco ' Virgin with Child', unfortunately very much restored, which motivated the building of this church.
