FROM THE “FRECCIA ROSSA”
TO THE RED WINE BOTTICINO DOC
A walk between "old ladies" and Brescian wines doc.
This is the shortest and unusual citizen tour proposed by SLOWTIME for this spring, to the discovery of two typical excellence of our territory: one enogastronomica, as wine Botticino doc and the other historical-cultural context represented by the legendary Mille Miglia race. And all, of course, accessible.

The tour begins with a visit to the Mille Miglia Museum housed in the beautiful Benedictine monastery of Sant’Eufemia della Fonte, in Brescia, building dating back to 1008 that encompasses centuries of Brescian history and that alone deserves a visit for the elegance architecture of the complex. To add charm to the charm, there is

the internal exhibition, characterized by a path indicated by a red road that accompanies the visitor through the two levels of the museum: the first floor devoted to editions of the Mille Miglia to the Second World War and the ground floor dedicated to those from 1947 to '57. In addition to the legendary classic cars perfectly preserved, has a large collection of curious objects related to the racing world and the usages and customs of the time. The museum is enriched with descriptive panels, audio-visual equipments, vintage movies of the Mille Miglia race and its protagonists.
For a rest, you can stop to the characteristic "Taverna Mille Miglia", a piece of history of the legendary race, which was once located in the historical city centre and now reproduced, with a copy of the original sign, inside the complex museum.

Let now the museum and across the whole town of St. Eufemia (Botticino direction) until to reach the hamlet of Caionvico, where, in via S. Orsola 161 is the final destination of our mini journey: the Azienda Agricola Tognazzi, a winery in the eastern outskirts of Brescia, at the foot of Monte Maddalena, just ten minutes from the centre of the town.

It 's really a pleasant surprise to discover this small hilly area inside the confines of our city: an oasis of peace and green with a production of great red wines of Botticino doc: Vigne di mattina, Doliolo and Vigna Cobio.
By appointment, Mrs. Anna, with loving skill, will accompany us in the visit of the farm, from the wine making and tasting room to the wine cellar ageing, guided tastings and the purchase of its wines and providing all information necessary to appreciate the quality

In addition at Botticino doc, it’s possible to appreciate the wines produced by vineyards in Peschiera del Garda: Lugana, Marzemino and sparkling wine
